Award of Merit - Innovation into Practice winner announced at Land.Technik AgEng2025
adminKlaus Pöttinger has been recognised with the Award of Merit - Innovation into Practice by the European Society of Agricultural Engineers in a ceremony at the VDI Land.Technik AgEng2025 Conference in Hanover, Germany on 7th November 2025.
The criteria states that The award will, in general, be made to a leading light in the industry. The winner will have made an outstanding contribution to commercial practice and to engineering innovation that has been widely recognised through new products or by governmental and other organisations, for the benefit of agriculture, environment, industry and/or the rural sector in Europe.
His nomination said Klaus Pöttinger, one of the owners of PÖTTINGER Landtechnik GmbH, acted as technical managing director from 1991 to 2016. During this time, he has introduced innovative technologies and processes that have significantly increased efficiency and quality in agricultural production. His vision and commitment have made PÖTTINGER synonymous with quality and innovation in agricultural technology.

The JUMBO loader wagon stands out for its power, stability, and reliability, ensuring efficient silage harvesting with precise chop length due to its pick-up technology and AUTOCUT cutting unit. The machine was presented to the world for the first time in 1999 and today, 25 years later, is still one of the most powerful multi-purpose rotor loader wagons in the world. The NOVACAT ALPHA MOTION mower excels in the best ground tracking and handling, offering active swath merging, ideal for single-grass operations. ALPHA MOTION was also Machine of the Year at Agritechnica in Hannover in 2005. The AEROSEM pneumatic seed drill combines universal technology, precision seeding, drilling, and fertilization, featuring the INTELLIGENT DISTRIBUTION SYSTEM (IDS) for easy tramline and track width adjustment, and the PRECISION COMBI SEEDING (PCS) for precise maize sowing. Both systems received silver medals at Agritechnica. In 2013 the AEROSEM was Machine of the Year at Agritechnica in Hanover. The TERRASEM seed drill offers high efficiency and precision, ensuring uniform seed distribution and optimal soil cultivation, with advanced technology for precise control and adaptation to soil conditions. The IMPRESS round baler from PÖTTINGER is designed to ensure high efficiency and performance when harvesting silage and ensures a precise and uniform chop length. The IMPRESS round baler has the shortest cutting length on the market and therefore enables the best silage quality. SENSOSAFE is an innovative wildlife rescue system using optoelectronic sensors to detect animals in the grass, automatically raising the mower to protect them. It works independently of light conditions and can be used with front or rear mowers. These are just a few products that can be associated with Klaus Pöttinger.
The EurAgEng awards panel were unanimous in their verdict, and said 'although the nominations were of a very high standard, Klaus Pöttinger was the stand out candidate.'
The European Society of Agricultural Engineers offered its congratulations to Klaus Pöttinger for this significant award which recognises his significant and sustained contribution.
