The XIII Iberian Congress of Agroengineering

Coimbra, Portugal, July 21-23, 2025

In a joint initiative of the Rural Engineering Section of the Society of Agricultural Sciences of Portugal and the Spanish Society of Agricultural Sciences, the year 2025 once again has a privileged space for the exchange of technical and scientific knowledge in the various disciplines of Rural Engineering. This year, the event will take place in the city of Coimbra, Portugal, providing participants with a rich experience in science, culture and networking.

In order to promote the sharing of technical and scientific work, the congress brings together researchers, academics, professionals and students, promoting discussions on the latest innovations and responses in the field of Rural Engineering. The program includes presentations, technical sessions and panels that explore sustainable and innovative solutions for an agricultural sector more resilient to the current global and regional challenges imposed on it.

In addition to the scientific component, the event also includes a cultural dimension, with visits to the historic city of Coimbra, known for its charm and rich cultural heritage. This unique combination of science and culture makes the XIII Iberian Congress of Agroengineering an unmissable opportunity to deepen knowledge, create value and experience the essence of Iberian collaboration.

Iagre Landwards Conference 2024

Why  we need agricultural engineers

Wednesday 6 November, Rothamsted Research, UK.

Population growth, climate change, renewable energy, sustainable food production, all things we hear all around us every day. The challenges are clear, but it’s evident that working in silos is not going to achieve the results we need. These topics are inherently linked to each other and will require a collaborative systems based approach to solve.

Our conference this year will not focus on the challenges, but on how we can achieve the solutions. By encouraging the thought process between the different stakeholders, we intend to highlight what engineers working in agriculture need to focus on for the future.

The event will culminate in a panel discussion, chaired by our President Elect, Kit Franklin from HAU and Hands Free Hectare, where our speakers will answer questions from the audience and give you a chance to put your views forward.  We hope the conference will be of interest to a broad spectrum of people, including students, academics, technologists and industry engineers as we explore the future and ensure that through agricultural engineering we secure food safety for all.

We have an exciting and experienced line up of Speakers, you can read more below.  The programme is available here and booking is open.
