IAgrE Conference 2025 to Examine AI’s Role Across UK Farming Machinery & Engineering

The Institution of Agricultural Engineers (IAgrE) will host its online IAgrE Conference 2025 on Wednesday 22 October, 10:00-14:30, under the theme “Will Artificial Intelligence revolutionise Agriculture?”.

Aimed at engineers, technologists, researchers and decision makers in agriculture and allied land-based industries, the day will explore how AI is reshaping everything from machine autonomy to sensory detection in crop and livestock systems. Topics covered will include real-world AI and robotics deployments, machine learning applications for crop monitoring, and challenges around adoption, regulation, and scalability.

Key Speakers & Sessions

  • Professor Fernando Auat Cheein (Harper Adams University) will lead on robotics, AI perception, and the practical readiness of these systems in field environments.

  • Jonathan Henry (Garford Farm Machinery) will present on the Garford Robocrop AI, which uses combinations of colour, infrared and depth imaging to distinguish crops from weeds.

  • Allan Kildeby of CLAAS will share insights on integrating camera sensors, machine learning, and automation to enhance efficiency in harvesting and other operations.

  • Morten Bilde, Managing Director of AGCO Innovation Center (Denmark), will examine AI’s impact on how manufacturers are designing product lifecycles and user interfaces.

What It Means for the Machinery Business

For manufacturers, dealers, and contractors, this conference offers visibility into emerging AI technologies likely to influence future machine features—such as smart weed detection, predictive maintenance, and autonomous implement control. The shift toward AI-enabled tools could reshape supply, servicing, and operator expectations in the UK market.

Bookings are live now, and sponsorship opportunities are also available. More info and the full programme are on IAgrE’s website.
