Field Robot Event 2026: Calling Agricultural Engineering Students

Attention agricultural engineering students — the Field Robot Event (FRE) 2026 is gearing up to showcase the forefront of autonomous agricultural robotics, and you’re invited to be part of it. The competition will take place from 16–18 June 2026 at the International DLG Crop Production Centre in Bernburg-Strenzfeld, Germany, as part of the DLG Feldtage crop production field event.

FRE is a student-driven international robotics competition where university teams design, build and test autonomous field robots that tackle practical agricultural tasks such as navigation, object detection and precision field work under real outdoor conditions. The event encourages innovation, collaboration and sustainability — core pillars for future engineers shaping the digital and autonomous farm landscape.

Held alongside one of Europe’s premier crop production exhibitions, FRE offers invaluable opportunities for students to network with industry professionals, researchers and potential employers active in agricultural automation, precision farming and smart machinery. You’ll see autonomous platforms, advanced sensing systems and AI-driven solutions operating in real fields, gain insights into current research challenges, and discuss engineering trade-offs with leading developers.

Whether you’re interested in robot control systems, sensor integration, machine vision, artificial intelligence or agricultural applications, FRE provides a unique forum to test your skills, benchmark against international peers and inspire your final-year or postgraduate projects.

Get involved — either with a team, as part of industry engagement, or to attend and learn firsthand. The autonomous farm of the future needs fresh talent — start building yours at FRE 2026!
